HALLOWEEN IS COMING!

Hi Friends! This Halloween season has been sooooo busy! I must say that I started out doing tutus as something of a lark....a way to dress up my baby lambkin in pretties without paying an arm and a leg! I really stumbled onto Etsy and it has been wonderful!! I've had almost more orders than I can keep up with, but the best part is the actual creation of these lovely tutus that will make some little girl feel like a princess! That part really makes me happy... In the meanwhile, we're still in the process of getting this 2o some odd year old moneypit (house) on the market. We're supposed to go live with it tomorrow and all I feel about it is...EXHAUSTED! As for my next house, I may have to be pried away with a BIG crowbar to get me to ever leave, lol! I also feel sorry for my baby child, all she sees lately is mommy and daddy racing by with a paintbrush or a spray bottle of windex, saying, "No Emma, not Emma's, nooooo!". Of course it doesnt help that my little angel is often more devil than angel!!!

Left in her room to play for a while, she ended up breaking two drawers in her dresser! Wowza!! A friend asked me what I'm feeding her to turn her into superbaby and of course I answered, "puppy chow!" :))))) Okay, okay, so I'm not really feeding my daughter puppy chow, but it makes for a cute joke, no?

Oh and I just joined Team EtsyBaby!!! So far so good, though alot of it's confusing at the moment! That could also of course be the fact that I'm sleepwalking through my days lately! I'm really hoping that Team etsyBaby will help with my shop exposure and give me some great friends in the process!! I also want to give a great big shout out to momdot.com for carrying my blog with my store link and feeds!!! Thank you!!!!!!!

GOOD AFTERNOON!!

Hi there, Today I'm working on christmas tutus, and I have to say it's slow going....I admit Halloween is easier to create, it's like all these wonderful ideas are just sitting on the branches of a tree waiting to be plucked!! With christmas it seems that there's only so many themes to go around and when you're trying to make your own creations stand out from the crowd, the job is a bit more daunting to say the least! On the homefront, I'm trying to be a good family contributer and get the kitchen painted.....This poor house of mine is so old and has been through so many renovations, that it seems almost cruel to slap on one more coat of paint. My baby child is actually taking a nap today, I'd say she was pretty tired out from a long morning of destruction and mayhem. She discovered the bookcase this morning and books and torn covers were flying everywhere, not to mention the fun with salt that she'd had earlier. Ay yi yi!! Naptime...is a good time, hee hee!! I'm also on the hunt for good shipping boxes today, that seems to be a big problem in my little tutu business, finding the right size box, especially for wings, that will ship for a reasonable price has been a nightmare! On the good side, my Tinkerbell Tutu is going to be donated and featured in an auction that gives to children's charities!! That has got to make anyone feel good!

TODAY'S ATTITUDE IS......BUSY!!!!!

So I ordered new tulle from a new place that I decided to try out and when I received it in the mail it looked okay. I spent some time cutting my tulle into strips to begin work on the first of my christmas tutus, only to find that the tulle is not as fine and soft as the other stuff I've been using and the red isn't even so very red. SIGH.......so now I'm kinda stuck with a bunch of sub par material and a definite need to get working!!! I also got in a few more orders so I'll be custom making a minnie mouse and tonight I'll need to to bumblebee wings for a customer coming by tomorrow! Yikes!!! Also baby girl has decided that sleeping is for the birds this week, and I can't seem to get her down for more than an hour at a whack! This, from the child who has been such a serta perfect sleeper for most of her little life!! Wish sometimes I could take a peek inside that little blonde head of hers and see what's going on.....crash, boom, destruct, pull, ouch, eat, sleep,put-in-mouth,yank,ouch, sleep, eat, giggle, eat, crash! That's sorta how I picture it, hee hee!!! For now, enjoy the pics,I'll have more soon!!

GOOD MORNING STARSHINE!!!!

Good morning!!! Last night I made a candy corn princess tutu that turned out so much better than I'd hoped!!! The tutu is very full and made with layers of orange, yellow and white tulle, thus...a candy corn princess! Today I'll be making a headband of sorts to go along with it and then I'll take some pictures with my hopefully cooperative daughter Em! I normally place these pictures on craigslist in austin, but lately the tutu scene has been getting a bit overrun for my taste, so it may just end up at my etsy store....hmmmm. Soon I'll need to start working on my christmas extravaganza tutus, I have several adorable things planned but may very well need to come up with something really over the top that can be my crowning star! Need to put my thinking cap on and get with the program! Today we have someone at the house fixing some of the little things wrong with the house...all in the name of getting it ready to sell. As for moi, all I wanna do is tutu and the two are not as compatible as I'd like, haha! At some point today or tomorrow I'll need to finish painting a portion of my kitchen yellow and continue to organize all the myriad THINGS we have into boxes for keeping, selling, giving away....It would be lovely to just twinkle my nose ala samantha from bewitched and have it all done! Sigh...we regular gals definitely have a harder row to hoe!!!

TuTu Descriptions!!

Photobucket The first is Tinkerbell!!! Tinker bell is made from yards and yards of shimmering apple green tulle and oversized green sequins with a comfy elastic band. Tinkerbell comes with sparkly child sized wings and a poufy fairy wand to complete the costume!!

The second is Minnie Mouse!! Minnie Mouse is created from an abundance of red tulle scattered with white mini pom poms and check out the little white "collar" at the top! Minnie also has adorable fuzzy black mouse ears and the signature red and white polka dot bow!

The third is Chicks Rule! Chicks Rule is my first creation and a favorite! Chicks rule features a very poufy and sparkly gold, yellow and white tutu adorned with soft yellow baby chick feathers. A butter yellow onesie says "chicks rule" across the front and the headband is made from very soft feathers!

The last is my Pumpkin Fairy! The pumpkin fairy's skirt is coppery orange, green and gold tulle and features little flowers, ribbons and leaves hidden among the folds. The headband has a big tulle bow and more leaves and flowers. The matching pumpkin fairy wand brings it all together!! Photobucket

Welcome, Hello, Salutations and Greetings!!

My name is Ginger and I am currently a stay at home mom of two children (1 16 yrs and 1 11 mo!) who has recently discovered a passion for all things tutu!! It has really evolved over a love for dressing my 11 month old daughter in anything frilly, lacy, flowered, adorable and over the top that I could get my hands on! Eventually, you either learn to deconstruct and make a few things yourself, or you spend a ton of money! I chose to learn! So now I am in the process of setting up my website, Thewhimsicaltutu.com, an etsy store, thewhimsicaltutu.etsy.com, as well as selling various of my creations on ebay and craigslist.
My mostly willing little model is my sweet baby child Emma Madeline, she's a gorgeous kid if I do say so myself, and of course, her mommy's perfect little muse! In the back of my head I can hear her at 16 saying "you dressed me up in whaaaat???" But at this point her style decisions are all mine, heheehe!!
To give an oversight of what it is I do and specialize in, I'll be posting pictures and giving descriptions. My tutus are, well, in a word, whimsical. I've definitely done the shopping and been an avid customer myself, and essentially started creating adorable things that I wanted to see for sale and on my little girl. I certainly wouldn't sell a tutu that I wouldn't dress and parade Emma around in! For this blog I'll be talking about my tutu costumes, motherhood, marriage, family, holidays, building a new house and selling the one I'm currently in, as well as a little of whatever crosses my mind.
Enjoy!
